Domaine du Rolant

Access to the Domaine du Rolant by a private alley of 800 meters
The farm lies in 120 hectares in the heart of the Dordogne countryside, near the pretty little medieval village of
Issigeac, 22 kms from Bergerac. The cottage has much original character and charm and there is a great sense
of space and peace here. We are within an easy drive of an excellent golf course and you can walk cross country
almost anywhere you like or cycle through quiet lanes, hardly meeting a soul. For those who enjoy wine, history or
simply a relaxed quality of life, there is something for everyone.

Living room Kitchen

The ground floor of the cottage has a large living room, decorated with pieces of hand made wrought iron that
opens onto a shaded terrace. The kitchen is well equipped with all modern comforts, including a dishwasher and
washing machine, oven and hob, microwave and fridge.

Bathroom Bedroom

There is downstairs two double bedrooms and upstairs a twin bedroom and double bedrooms.

The cottage also has two bathrooms, one with a shower, the other with a bath, and two separate wc's.

The view from the terrace looks over the countryside and the pool has sunbeds and is fenced to ensure that
children can run around safely (and for parents' peace of mind!).
We also have two horses that are available for those who enjoy riding.

The Area

Issigeac has a teeming Sunday morning market, spreading through a warren of streets from the market square,
where you can find piles of fresh fruit and vegetables, stalls with local wine and farm cheeses, sometimes a dozen
different kinds of country bread, smoked duck breast and foie gras, basketware and pottery, or garden plants.
There is also an excellent restaurant opposite the old château.

If you like shopping, flea-markets or jazz concerts, canoeing or just wandering around a lovely riverside town, then     you love Bergerac. The jazz concerts every Wednesday in summer are free. The shops are small but exquisite and     the restaurants in the old quarter have generous menus at very reasonable prices. Of the vineyards that surround
the town, Péchamant, a small group of vineyards tucked away to the north of Bergerac, produces a particularly
good red wine and Monbazillac to the south, produces a semi-sweet white wine, delicious on its own and especially     good with foie gras or pastries.

Beaumont is a 13th century hilltop bastide about 7 kms away that has marvellous views over the countryside
and about 20 kms from here is
Monpazier, perhaps one of the loveliest and most classically laid out of all
the bastide villages. Further along the river towards
Sarlat are others, dominated by their great fortress castles.
